For those still considering the purchase of an engraved brick to be located in the main walkway in front of the VMO-6 Memorial, please review the following information:
The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation (MCHF) sends a consolidated list of brick orders each quarter to a vendor in Colorado.
31 DEC 2016 is the next cutoff date.
Over 3,000 bricks are ordered each quarter.
The vendor has 90 days to complete the inscriptions and sends them back by truck.
After receipt, the bricks will be installed in the walkway in April 2017.
Administrative procedures:
Requests that are sent to me are flagged "VMO-6 Memorial."
Upon receiving a request, I verify the legibility of the inscription wording before sending to my MCHF point of contact.
Approximately two weeks after receiving your request, they will send you a certificate with the inscription wording and ask you to ensure it is correct.
When the bricks are received by MCHF, I am notified and asked where to place the "flagged" brick.
After placement, I will take a picture of your brick and sent it to you.
A commemorative brick would make an excellent Christmas present. Also, attending the planned VMO-6 remembrance event planned on Memorial Day on 29 May 2017, would be a excellent opportunity for you to participate in the event and view your brick as well as others. If sufficient numbers of people attend, I will plan a squadron get together in the Quantico, VA area. Please consider, and let me know your participation.
A brick form with instructions can be downloaded from our website at http://vmo6memorial.homestead.com/ (click on green button, right side initial web page).
